What kinds of exercise are best for happiness
January 14, 2022
While all physical activity is beneficial, research into the relationship between happiness and health is developing rapidly, exploring the possibility that impaired happiness is not only a consequence of ill-health but also a potential contributor to disease risk.
Happiness associates several areas, including affective well-being (feelings of joy and pleasure), also our sense of meaning and purpose in life, together with our own life satisfaction. Happiness is generally associated with better health. Physical activity is significantly related to life satisfaction and happiness in young, middle-aged, and older adults.
In adolescents studies illustrate that even shortterm, physical activity promotes happiness and vice versa. Showing that physical activity is not only important for the physical health of youth, but also plays an important role in their mental well-being.
In addition, life satisfaction and happiness increased with increasing age. The results support the promotion of physical activity for all.
Best wishes, David
